Activists join free Palestine walk
NBC News, Ron Nakfoor
About 100 people walked in Atlanta Saturday as part of a national effort to raise awareness of events in Palestine. They joined others in more than 45 cities around the country who walked to advance, what they termed, a more equitable American policy toward Palestinians.
The American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights (AAPER) sponsored the event.
Spokesperson Suha Kayum told 11 News, "Like the AIDS Walk, Breast Cancer Walk and Freedom Walks during the Civil Rights Movement, the Free Palestine Walk can have a major impact across the United States." She added" Our government plays a key role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and we as Americans have an interest in seeing a lasting peace".
The second annual walk also raised funds to create an effective advertising campaign for AAPER.
